    Middleweight Digital Designer

    What Partners is all about

We’re an agency in transition. We’ve evolved immeasurably over the last 18 months. Compelling customer experiences have always been our focus, but how we create these experiences across the spectrum of digital and offline touch points has radically changed.

We blend strategic understanding, creative invention and technological brilliance in unique ways that deliver truly unique interactions.

We make wonderful experiences that effortlessly connect people with brands and create things that are useful, personal, shareable, and meaningful. We believe that none of us is as creative as all of us. And that’s why we’re proud of everything that bears our mark: Made by Partners.

    The role you’ll play

As a Middleweight designer, you must be able to work on a range of material including email, websites, desktop and mobile apps, and display advertising. You will take on smaller projects independently and will carry out the entire process: concept, design, and final master creation and delivery for front end developer and tech teams.

Whilst the work is still overseen by a senior designer and/or art director, you will maintain a moderate amount of control and continue to develop your original designs. You are also expected to contribute to larger campaigns and pitches as part of a wider agency team, when you will not necessarily be developing your own concepts. You may lead the digital design element of smaller pitches.

You should have a design point of view, and the ability to present and explain creative concepts both internally and to clients, as required. You should create multiple design solutions for a given brief and recommend surprising solutions.

    Your skills, responsibilities and experiences

    Skills:

A highly developed understanding of typography and user-centered design is a must, and advanced knowledge of all the essential industry standard applications software essential. A thorough grasp of the opportunities and limitations presented by current web and mobile technologies is also required.

    Required skills:

    -          Adobe Photoshop

    -          Adobe Illustrator

    -          Sketch

     Advantageous skills:

    -          Experience of Agile working methodology

    -          Understanding of current principles of UX and IA

    -          Understanding of accessibility Issues (w3c compliant)

    -          HTML, Actionscript, JavaScript, CSS

    -          Adobe Premiere

    -          Adobe After Effects

    Experience:

Depending on your training and career to date, a Middleweight Digital Designer at Partners Andrews Aldridge would have significant experience in appropriate digital design environments.

    Teamwork:

Partners’ mantra is ‘None of us is as creative as all of us’ – we are a collaborative, creative and inclusive organisation that believes in the value of great ideas. As a Middleweight you must be able to guide and inspire juniors - by example and by education. You must also be able to support seniors by following direction and contributing positively to projects. You must be able to receive and deliver constructive feedback.

    Development:

Middleweights will seek to further improve their software and design skills to exceptional levels, and master current and future technological developments. Innovation, creativity and craft have equally high importance in your work.

As a Middleweight, you will quickly build experience in presenting work to senior agency figures and clients, and dealing with design feedback face-to-face. Assisting with the mentoring of less experienced members of the team is an important part of your development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Completing end-to-end digital design projects from concept to final file delivery to tech team in both a waterfall and agile methodology
    • Assisting art directors and design colleagues in finding optimum answers to creative, technical and commercial challenges
    • Developing current and new skill sets
    • Participating in and leading creative collaborations with wider agency teams

A Middleweight Digital Designer should have built up a portfolio of wide-ranging work (both commissioned and self-actuated) that demonstrates the talent and skills we require at Partners Andrews Aldridge.
